Roadside Memorials

looking at theses, this is another way that people cope with death, putting flowers against the roadside of where people died. most of the time when you see them at the side of the road the images, itams and flowers seem to have weathered and rotted . only for the first couple of days is the memorial healthy looking .

  1. I think this is a great post. I think the development of roadside memorials has it's roots in the national grieveing for the Hillsborough disaster and the Death of Diana, Princess of Wales. As a vicar I also think this an increased displacement of spirituality, in so much as, folk no longer feel ties to any particular expression of faith or tied to location (e.g. church) but do want to express something of the spiritual even if it is in a folk religion way.
Brill observations, great pictures, lots of food for thought
